The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will be holding a new kind of community meeting for the Fiscal Year 2013-14 Annual Budget.  This year’s meeting will allow participants in five locations throughout Humboldt County to see and hear from participants in each district via a live, interactive web conference. The entire meeting will also be shown live on Access Humboldt’s Channel 10.  County staff will give a presentation that outlines County revenues, expenditures, budget outlook and a five-year forecast for Humboldt County’s finances.

 

County staff and the Supervisors will be on hand to answer questions concerning their districts and the County budget. Participants will have an opportunity to share their ideas, concerns and give input on the future of Humboldt County.

“We have hosted community meetings for the last two budget cycles. We continue to hear that our community wants input into the decisions that affect our County,” said Board Chair Ryan Sundberg. “We are excited to be able to offer a live web conference where each district is represented and all participants can hear the questions and answers as well as see participants from the different locations”

 

County staff and Board Members will utilize the comments from the Community Meeting to build budget proposals that better reflect community input. Humboldt County’s County Administrative Officer will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors in June based on submittals from County departments and information gathered at this meeting.
