All, we struggled with the forecast with this event because it seemed like the worst conditions would happen over night on Friday… but the wave system came in slower than forecast so the set behavior that causes sneaker waves will still be occurring during Saturday’s mid day rising tide - the worst possible scenario. The good news is that it will be cloudier than forecast so that will dampen the beach visitation rates somewhat.

Overall, however, I would now say we have a high threat of sneaker waves today, instead of moderate. I’m very sorry for the late change — predicting sneaker waves is an emerging science.
