Eureka Police Dept. Press Release:
On Sunday February 24th at approximately 3:33 pm the Eureka Police Department received a report of an attempted kidnapping that had occurred in the area of “J” and Buhne Sts. in Eureka. The suspect described as a Hispanic male adult in his early thirties in a vehicle pulled up next to the victim, who was walking South on “J” St. The suspect pulled his vehicle to the curb and ordered the female victim to get into his vehicle. The victim shouted “no” and began running South on “J” St. The suspect followed her in his vehicle until the victim made a right turn and hid near the side of a church. The victim was able to call a friend on her cell phone and was able to stay hidden until her friend arrived and picked her up.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult in his early thirties with slicked back black hair down to his ears. The suspect was wearing a white tank top and a necklace with a cross on it. The suspect also had a tattoo on his right arm that consisted of unknown words written in Spanish. The suspect vehicle is described as an older mini van with faded red paint. The vehicle has a dent on the driver’s side door and an unknown type sticker on the rear window. There was a cross hanging from the vehicles rear view mirror.
