On 2-5-2013, approximately 4:00 a.m. two Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies on patrol in McKinleyville stopped a 1995 Black Dodge Neon near Central Avenue and Murray Road, McKinleyville for a traffic violation. When the deputies contacted the driver and sole occupant she verbally identified herself as Sandra Belisle, 42 years old from Fortuna. Belisle told the deputies she had no identification.

While speaking with Belisle the deputies saw a marijuana cigarette in plain view on the dash board. Belisle claimed she had a medical 215 card to possess the marijuana, but could not produce one. The deputies searched Belisle’s car and located approximately ½ pound of dried marijuana bud in the vehicle along with a check from Coast Central Credit Union with the name who it was issued to bleached out, credit cards and casino cards in other persons names, bolt cutters, and several pounds of heavy industrial copper wire in the trunk and interior of the car.

The deputies contacted Fortuna Police and learned at least one of the credit cards was reported stolen in a residential burglary. Deputies learned the Coast Central Credit Union check was reported stolen from a victim’s mailbox. Fortuna Police told the deputies there is an active construction site near Belisles residence, and is following up to determine if the copper was stolen from that job site.

Belisle was arrested for possession of over one ounce of marijuana, transportation of marijuana, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property. She was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where her bail is set at $25,000.00.
