Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Dept. Press Release:

On 01-04-2013, approximately 8:00 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office received a call of an attempted armed robbery that just occurred at the Patriot Gas Station, 1679 Myrtle Avenue, Eureka. The suspect had just fled the gas station and was armed with a handgun.

When deputies arrived, they met with the station clerk who told them he was standing behind the counter at the station when a female walked into the store. The female was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black scarf and grey sweat pants.  The hood of the sweatshirt and scarf were partially covering her face. As she approached the front counter she presented the clerk with a piece of cardboard with the words, “Put the money in the bag,” written on it in a black marker. The female then placed a large green bag on the counter in front of the clerk. The clerk took a step back from the counter and the female grabbed the sign and bag then fled on foot. As she fled the store, the clerk saw a black semi-auto handgun with a brown handle in the female’s hand. The clerk did not know why she suddenly fled. She was last seen running northbound on Myrtle Avenue.

Deputies checked the area but did not find the suspect. Nothing was stolen from the store and the clerk was not hurt.

The suspect is further described as: a female, unknown age, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, grey sweat pants, a black scarf, 5’5” tall, approx. 160 lbs, dark hair, blues eyes, heavy set.
