(phone line staffed from 8am to 8pm)

The Dance Fire is located on the Six Rivers National Forest, adjacent to Orleans, California. It is being managed by Northern California Interagency Team 2.

All evacuations were lifted at 9:00 a.m. today.

Good progress was made strengthening control lines today. Wind speeds were higher than predicted, causing the fire to become more active. However, no fire was reported outside of the containment lines.

Crews will continue mop up and patrol tonight and tomorrow. In addition, an infra-red flight has been ordered to assist with locating areas of heat. Residents and visitors to the area may continue to see smoke as unburned pockets of vegetation within the fire ignite.

Fire managers will be at the Karuk Department of Natural Resources at 6:00 p.m. August 1st, to give an operational update.
