Not the newsworthiest thing in the world by itself, but given recent events…
From the Eureka Police Department:
This morning at about 6:40 am EPD Officers, Fire and ambulance personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Henderson and “I” streets on the report of an injury traffic collision. Upon arrival Officers found that the collision involved a vehicle vs a 13 year old bicyclist.
The preliminary investigation showed that the 13 year old boy was riding his bike the wrong way on Henderson street, without a light during the hours of darkness. The bicyclist failed to yield to the large SUV that was northbound on “I” street, with a green light. The SUV had been stopped for a red light and had just begun crossing the intersection when the collision occurred.
The boy collided with the front of the SUV and was knocked to the ground. He sustained minor injuries, and was treated and released to his mother at the scene. The boy was wearing a bike helmet which most likely prevented more serious injuries.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
