From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 03-20-2013, the Eureka Police Department was contacted by Fresno Police Department regarding two wanted suspects that were believed to be hiding out in the City of Eureka. Fresno Police Detectives told Eureka Police Detectives they had arrest warrants for the two males in connection with a recent shooting in Fresno. The warrants were both for assault with a firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime. The bail on the arrest warrants was for two million dollars. Fresno Police told Eureka Police both suspects were validated gang members and had violent pasts. Both were considered to be armed and dangerous.

Eureka Police immediately began working with Fresno to locate both suspects. Local law enforcement agencies were notified the suspects could be in the area. Fresno Police and Eureka Police were able to locate the suspects staying in a residence in the 900 block of O st, Eureka. Eureka Police with the assistance of Fresno Police were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence the suspects were believed to be in. Fresno Police immediately dispatched three detectives to Eureka arriving on 3-21-2013..

Due to the suspect’s violent history, likely hood of being armed and type of arrest warrants issued the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Interagency (Sheriff’s Office and Eureka Police) SWAT team and the Sheriffs Office Crisis Negotiation Team were activated. 

On 03-22-2013, approximately 7:00 a.m. officers and deputies from Eureka Police, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, United States Marshalls Office, Bureau of Land Management, Humboldt County District Attorney Investigators and Humboldt County Drug Task Force blocked off the area around the suspects location and evacuated nearby neighbors. The SWAT team was deployed while this was occurring. Both suspects were then called out of the residence and surrendered immediately to the SWAT Team. No one was injured.

Fresno Police has requested the names of the suspects be withheld along with their booking photos. They are still actively investigating their case. The suspects, both in their 20’s, reside in Fresno and were booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the arrest warrants. Eureka Police and Fresno Detectives searched the residence the suspects were staying in pursuant to the search warrant.
