John Matthews’ Guest of the Week: John Post — known locally as “Johnny Berrypicker” — has been a colorful presence around Arcata and the rest of Humboldt County for several years. But a story in last week’s Arcata Eye put the lie to man’s self-created legend, detailing Berrypicker’s history as a convicted felon (bank robbery), his past involvement with white power groups, and of the many local people who have found themselves the victim of his cons. John Matthews speaks with Berrypicker and with one of those victims, Bobby Olsen.
