PREVIOUSLY:  Fatal Vehicle v. Pedestrian Collision Near Zane Middle School

From the Eureka Police Department:

This morning at about 6:17a.m. EPD Officers, Humboldt Bay Fire and Ambulance personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Buhne and “S” streets for the report of a vehicle vs a pedestrian traffic collision. Upon arrival a 67 year old female was located lying on in the roadway on “S” street just north of Buhne. She sustained major head trauma and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 53 year old male driver of a 2005 Chevy 2500 truck was also located at the scene. It was reported that the driver was traveling eastbound on Buhne and turned left onto northbound “S” street, colliding with the pedestrian.

“S” street was closed until about 12:30 while Officers collected evidence.

Officers are still investigating the collision and hope to release more information that as it becomes available without jeopardizing the integrity of the case.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
