Press release from the Arcata Police Department: 

The Arcata Police Department continues to actively investigate the double homicide which occurred on May 18, 2013 in the 2400 block of Eye Street.  Investigators are locating and interviewing potential witnesses to the crime and attempting to locate additional evidence.

On May 19, 2013, with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department’s Search and Rescue Team, an extensive search for evidence was conducted in the Sunny Brae area. The Arcata Police Department is attempting to locate a firearm possibly associated with the crime. The area searched was the general area of where the suspect, Bodhi Tree, was arrested. The weapon has not been located.

The Arcata Police Department continues to attempt to locate a handgun that was possibly discarded by the suspect in the Sunny Brae area, specifically in the area of Beverly Drive and Shirley Blvd. The Arcata Police Department is concerned for the safety of the residents who may come in contact with the firearm. If anyone finds a gun they are asked to leave the gun in place and immediately contact the Arcata Police Department.
