From the Eureka Police Department:

On 05-29-13, Officers from the Eureka Police Department, assisted by Detectives from the Eureka Police Department’s POP Unit, served a search warrant in the 2400 block of 15th Street in Eureka. The search warrant was obtained after a traffic stop and investigation was conducted on the home owner.

Upon arrival at the residence, Officers contacted and detained the sole occupant of the residence, identified as Ian Huddon-Cossar (29 years of Eureka). A search of the residence revealed the garage and one bedroom were being used to cultivate and process marijuana. There were a total of 141 growing marijuana plants seized, along with approximately 15 pounds of processed marijuana, approximately one ounce of psilocybin mushrooms, two (2) shotguns and approximately $2,400 in United States currency.

Ian Huddon-Cossar was arrested on violations of cultivating marijuana, possessing marijuana for sale, possessing psilocybin mushrooms, and maintaining a residence for unlawful narcotic activity. Ian Huddon-Cossar was transported and booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.

Humboldt Bay Fire and a representative from the City of Eureka building department responded to the residence and inspected the wring associated with the marijuana growing operation. It was determined that the wiring was not up to code and installed in an unsafe manner. Due to the unsafe wiring, Pacific Gas and Electric responded to the residence and pull the meter, shutting off all electricity to the residence until the wiring can be corrected.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional arrests are expected.
