Marty Hobbs, Cal Fire Capt. Battalion Chief. at the Eel River Camp reports that a fire, now be called the Colony Incident, in the Fruitland Ridge area has occurred at the intersection of Colony Rd. and Eel Rock Rd. The incident was reported 10:17 A.M. today. There are power lines down and may be live and the fire crews are waiting for PG&E to arrive to attack the final area.
It is a quarter acre fire. There are three Cal Fire engines and one hand crew. There is an engine and water tender from Fruitland Ridge Fire Dept. Foreward progress on the fire has been stopped.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed that it may be related to a tree which appears to have fallen into the power lines.
Hobbs says, “We’ll keep an engine on it but release most of the resources in the next two hours.”
