Details are still emerging about a short manhunt that took place all around the county this afternoon, following a report of a home invasion in the Fieldbrook Kneeland area.

KHUM callers and Outpost correspondents noted a large police presence between Eureka and Fortuna late this afternoon. The police were seeking a white Volvo that was reported associated with the Kneeland call.

Lost Coast Outpost contributor Mark McKenna was following scanner traffic as the hunt was on, and as it eventually came to an end on C Stre, above, was taken into custody on charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property and suspicion of DUI, with additional charges possible. They said the call from Kneeland — where the Volvo was stolen — initially reported a home invasion robbery involving heavily armed suspects.

More information should be forthcoming — tomorrow, probably.
