Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Detectives have been actively working investigating the residential burglary that occurred on 11-7-2013. Detectives learned the suspects had possibly visited the Safeway grocery store on Harris Street, Eureka prior to the burglary. Detectives met with store officials who allowed them to view the stores video tape. Detectives saw Medley in the video the morning of the burglary in the company of what appeared to be two juvenile males. Detectives were able to identify the juvenile males with the assistance of Eureka Police and local school officials. Detectives located and interviewed the juvenile males, one was 16 years old and the other was 14 years old. Both reside in Eureka. The juvenile males admitted to being involved in the residential burglary with Medley. The males told the detectives prior to the burglary they had been checking area vehicles to see if they were unlocked so they could steal from them. The suspects discovered the garage door to the residence was unlocked so they decided to enter and steal from the home. The fourteen year old juvenile was on probation and had been placed on a home monitor which he had removed. He was arrested on the new charge of burglary and on an arrest warrant for violation of probation. The other male juvenile was released to the custody of his parents and school officials. Burglary charges are also being sought against the second male juvenile through the Humboldt County District Attorneys Office.
