Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Office Press Release:
On 11-14-2013, at approximately 8:00 p.m. a 41 year old Ferndale man was driving northbound on US 101 near Hooker Creek Road, near Redway when he heard something strike his 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The man did not see anyone or any vehicles in the area when he heard the sound. The man continued driving since all his windows were intact and there was nothing noticeably wrong with his Jeep.
When the man stopped to fuel in Fernbridge he inspected his Jeep. At that time he saw what appeared to be a bullet hole in the rear driver’s side door of his vehicle, about four feet behind where he was sitting. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office responded and is investigating the crime as a possible assault with a firearm. It is unknown if the bullet was a stray round from someone target shooting or intentional. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was unhurt.
Anyone with information for the Sheriffs Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriffs Office at 707-445-7251 or Detective Greg Musson at 707-268-3643.
