Eureka Police Department press release:

On 10.31.13, detectives with the Eureka Police Departments Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) responded to a motel at the 4200 block of Broadway in response to numerous complaints of narcotics trafficking.

During the investigation, Michelle Banda (28) and Michael Silva (51) were contacted in neighboring rooms at this location. As a result of the investigation, approximately 27.6 grams of heroin and one syringe loaded with heroin were located. Banda was subsequently arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for Possession of Heroin and Probation Violations. Silva was arrested for outstanding warrants and Possession of Heroin, however was cited and released for medical reasons.
