Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Dept. Press Release:

11-3-2013, approximately 3:45 p.m., a 19 year old woman contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and reported she had been assaulted in her residence. A deputy responded to the woman’s residence located in the 2600 block of Hall Avenue, Eureka and met with the victim. When the deputy met with the visibly distraught woman he saw fresh visible injuries on her hands, arms, head, face and forearms. The woman declined medical attention. 

The woman told the deputy just prior to calling 911, she had come home from work around 3:30 p.m. When she entered the front door of her home using her key, she felt resistance which she thought was odd. She stepped inside and was immediately attacked by a dark skinned male, possibly Hispanic. The suspect jumped on top of her and began punching the victim all over her body. He pulled her to the ground and continued to punch and attack her. She yelled and fought back. She kicked and punched at the suspect and was able to escape his grasp which allowed her to escape into the front yard of the residence. The suspect pursued her and tackled her in the front yard. The suspect punched her again and continued attacking her. Suddenly she heard an unknown male voice yell out, “Stop or I am calling the cops.” The attacker immediately fled in an unknown direction of travel. The victim fled into her residence where she locked the door and called law enforcement. The victim had no idea how the suspect gained access into her home, who the suspect was, or why he attacked her. 

The investigating deputy searched the residence and could not determine how the suspect entered the home. There were no signs of forced entry. Deputies canvased the neighborhood and could not locate the suspect or the citizen who told the attacker to stop or he would call law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office would like to locate and speak with that witness. 

The suspect is described as: Possibly Hispanic, 6’ tall, mid 30’s, shaved head, black mustache, wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and multiple tattoos covering both arms. The suspect is believed to have fresh scratch marks on his face.
