Eureka Police Department press release:

On Tuesday (11/05/13) a patrol officer with the Eureka Police Department was conducting a stolen property investigation, when he contacted Cody Allen Dale (30) at his residence at the 700 block of California Street. The officer quickly realized a bicycle hanging from Dale’s wall was stolen from a separate case from the one he was investigating. Dale, who is on probation for Possession of a Controlled Substance, which includes a search clause, was taken into custody for Possession of Stolen Property.

As the officer looked around Dale’s residence he realized the apartment was possibly loaded with additional stolen property. Detectives with the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) were called in to assist.

A thorough search of Dale’s apartment was conducted and several items suspected of being stolen, were seized. Some of the item seized were: laptop computers, jewelry, watches, coins, tools, bicycles, bicycle components, and thousands of baseball, football and basketball trading cards.
