That smoke billowing up in the northeast part of Humboldt County? Don’t worry. Cricket Baird, the Public Information Officer for Cal Fire out of Fortuna, reassured LoCO’s readers who have been contacting us for information.  Reached by phone, she said that there is nothing to worry about.

“There are two controlled burns up there,” she said.  So where there is smoke, there is also fire but, in this case, it is nothing to fret about.
