From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 10-29-13, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Loleta Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire involving a black 2006 Volkswagen, in the 3500 block of Eel River Drive, Loleta. After they arrived on scene, fire personnel determined the fire to be suspicious. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 10:45 p.m. and a deputy responded to the scene. The deputy contacted the Humboldt County Arson Task Force who also responded to assist with the investigation. The registered owner of the vehicle is from the San Jose area and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office is working with San Jose Police Department to locate the owner.

The vehicle was determined to be a total loss.
