Eureka Police Dept. Press Release:
On 8-31-13 the Eureka Police Department conducted a Sobriety / Driver’s license checkpoint on 6th at “D” street.
109 vehicles were screened.
5 people were given field sobriety test, but all were determined to not be impaired and released from the scene.
2 drivers were cited for driving while unlicensed.
One vehicle entered the checkpoint at about 11:55 pm. The screening officer contacted the driver who gave the officer a false name. Officers soon determined that he was actually 31 year old Nolan Colegrove of Hoopa. Colegrove was also determined to have a felony warrant for his arrest for Parole Violation. He was also driving while unlicensed and his vehicle was impounded.
A passenger in the vehicle, 33 year old Sally Ferris of Hoopa, was determined to have a bookable Misdemeanor warrant for drug possession.
Another passenger in the vehicle, 18 year old Tyrel Grant of Hoopa, was arrested after officers determined that he was in possession of a loaded concealed 9mm semi auto pistol.
All three subjects were arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Jail.
