Caltrans Press Release:
A drainage repair project on Route 254/Avenue of the Giants will begin 7AM on Monday, September 16, and will require a temporary full closure of the highway just south of the Hidden Springs Campground. The full closure is necessary to repair drainage pipes which cross both lanes of the highway, and the closure is expected to last through 3:30 PM on Friday, September 27. All work will be conducted Monday through Friday, and the highway will be open on weekends.
Businesses on Route 254/Avenue of the Giants in both Miranda and Myers Flat will remain accessible during the highway closure. Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians will still be able to access Redwood State Park both north and south of the closure, but no through traffic will be permitted at the closure area during weekdays. A detour around the work site is available by using Route 101 from Maple Hills Road/Miranda to Myers Flat.
The contractor for this project is Pacific Earthscape of McKinleyville. All work is weather dependent and subject to change. Please use caution when driving in the area and remember to Slow for the Cone Zone.
