A Del Norte man, Mark Alan Cardinal age 58 has been arrested for a string of robberies in California and Oregon.
According to the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office,
Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with Oregon State Police, Grants Pass PD, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI assisted in the investigation of a Del Norte County resident Mark Alan Cardinal, 58 years old white male who was taken into custody on Monday as a suspect in multiple bank robberies. The suspect has been linked to ten such robberies including two committed here in Del Norte County in Nov. of 2012.
Mark A. Cardinal, 58, was arrested Monday by Oregon authorities in the Cave Junction area after authorities stopped a vehicle he was driving that was suspected of being involved in a Grants Pass bank robbery earlier in the day, said Del Norte County sheriff’s Commander Bill Steven.
Cardinal’s vehicle was also identified as being involved in a Cave Junction bank robbery Friday.
Those cases are the latest in a string that included robberies in McKinleyville, Arcata, and two in Crescent City, as well as another one in Cave Junction, two others in Grants Pass and one in Myrtle Creek, Steven said.
According to Lt. Steve Knight of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, his office has not confirmed the connection with robberies in this area. “We’re looking into the possibility,” he said.
