LoCO is receiving word that the Theatre Arts Building on Humboldt State University’s campus is currently evacuated. Our colleague Mike Dronkers at KHUM spoke with HSU representative Simon Chabel who reported that the incident stemmed from what was thought to be the smell of an electrical fire in the building.
“It’s the Theatre Arts Building so that’s a building that has perhaps more unusual smells than normal,” Chabel said. “That said we’re still taking it very seriously.”
At this point, the thinking is that the hubbub was over a false alarm. Audio of the Dronkers/Chabel interview below.
