Original Post: Sometime within the last hour or so, the Eureka Police Department received a call of a shooting on the 300 block of Highland Street. Evidence technicians are on scene and have taped off a section between Union and Summer streets.
LoCO spoke with EPD’s Steve Watson who said the incident involved area residents and other subjects in a pickup truck who ultimately left the scene. Scanner traffic from the period suggests that the residents may have interrupted a burglary and were assaulted. During the altercation, a woman is thought to have fired two shots in an attempt to get a would-be burglar off her husband potentially hitting the assailant in the leg.
Details are scant at this time. LoCO has a reporter on the scene and we will be updating this post as we know more.
