Fortuna Police Department press release: 

On December 17, 2014 at approximately 0900 hours, officers of the Fortuna Police Department, working with the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, received information regarding wanted person Joseph Daniel Olivo (age 36). Olivo was currently wanted on a felony arrest warrant for Penal Code Section 3000.08(c) and was believed to be armed.

At approximately 0945 hours, Olivo was observed as an occupant in a parked sedan in the Strongs Creek Plaza. As two officers approached Olivo he fled in the vehicle towards Highway 101, subsequently resulting in a vehicle pursuit. Officers pursued the vehicle northbound onto Highway 101, onto Singley Road and into a residential area. The pursuit concluded when Olivo parked behind a residence, exited the vehicle and surrendered to officers.

Moments after the pursuit concluded, a Sergeant with the Fortuna Police Department located an occupant of Olivo’s vehicle who had exited the vehicle prior to the pursuit and had entered a business within the Strongs Creek Plaza. The subject was identified as Mario Nunez (age 29) of Eureka. Nunez was arrested for a felony arrest warrant and possession of narcotics.

Both subjects were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked without further incident.
