The two individuals found on Tuesday, December 23 in remote area of northeastern Humboldt near the small community of Johnsons have been identified as Leonard Donald James, Jr. age 64 and Carla Jae Lothrop, age 56. Humboldt County Deputy Coroner Charles Van Buskirk said that the two were discovered in their vehicle down a 300 foot embankment off the side of their driveway.

The accident is believed to have occurred several weeks earlier. “The family hadn’t heard from them and was starting look into it,” Van Buskirk explained. Family “had come up there to look for them and found them over the edge,” he said.
