This week in the local deep web: local Katy Perry fans aren’t hearing the lyrics, and McKinleyville is on the cutting edge of magical internet money.

First, though, anyone who posts to Craiglist knows they force you to proof your ad before posting.

Buried in this Reddit thread is a little gem: at least two cryptocurrencies snuck through the redwood curtain.

Shoulda bought Bitcoin when it was trading at $24 (currently $821).

[While this isn’t a great example, it bears mentioning that Reddit has the best commenters in all internetland. On-topic, clever, informative, concise … .]

We’ve all heard a song and thought, “Who does that song?”

And of course, there’s an app for that. Shazam can identify millions of songs as long as everyone around you isn’t too loud.

Combine that with user-provided geolocation and we can see what smartphone-having Humboldters are musically curious about. (Look in the “explore” section to see for youself.)

If anything, it shows that our Shazamming community isn’t so different from Portland, Ore.: Katy Perry is #3 there, Lorde is #1.

But here’s the best part.

Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” is the song that makes the most Eurekans go, “Who does this song?”

And here is the first line in the song: “Yeah! Ya’ll know what it is! Katy Perry!”

Anyway, please enjoy this list of songs that your community is Shazamming.
