On 1-10-2014, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested

Larry Clinton Morrow, 33 years old from Trinidad for homicide. Morrow was booked into the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility where he is being held on one million dollars bail. The cause of death and the victim’s name are not being released at this time. Detectives are still investigating the crime.

###

UPDATE, 11:22 a.m.: The suspect arrested this morning was Larry Clinton Morrow, 33, Lt. Wayne Hanson of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office tells the Outpost‘s Andrew Goff.

###

UPDATE, 11 a.m.: Scanner traffic indicates that police were called to the scene at around 3:10 a.m. A woman from Orick, whose mother lives at Hidden Creek, called 911 to say that her mother was in “hysterics” because a man was pounding on her door. While sheriff deputies responded to the scene, additional 911 calls reported that a man had been stabbed.

Police arrived within minutes and medical personnel shortly thereafter. The stabbing victim — the same man who had been reported as pounding on the woman’s door — was quickly located, and law enforcement reported back that a case was a possible “1144” — a fatality. One male suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Medical personnel attempted CPR on the stabbing victim, but soon after called on other first responders en route to stand down.

###

UPDATE, 10:05 a.m.: The Outpost‘s Andrew Goff reports that residents of the park are saying that the suspect arrested by sheriff’s deputies this morning was also a park resident, but that the victim lived “down the street.”

Crime scene technicians have not yet arrived, and some residents are angry at the police over this. Why does it take them so long, they wonder? Why do police leave the victim’s foot exposed? At least one child — a resident of the park, presumably — stood staring at the scene this morning.

###

UPDATE, 9:35 a.m.: The Lost Coast Outpost‘s Andrew Goff, at the scene of the investigation, reports that sheriff’s deputies are currently standing guard over the body while crime scene investigators arrive to properly process the scene. Residents of the RV park are upset the body is still laying in plain view hours later, Goff writes.
