Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Press Release:

On 1/10/14 at about 7:00 a.m. members from the Humboldt County Drug Task served a search warrant on a residence at the 2200 block of Walnut Ave. in McKinleyville. Upon arrival Agents discovered (5) adults and (6) six children in the single story family residence. The children’s ages ranged from 9 months to 14 years old.

During the search of the residence, Agents discovered Methamphetamine and prescription medication in the master bedroom where a female subject, Valerie Dake , (32) was sleeping with two of her four children. The prescription medication was not prescribed to Keyes Dake and later determined to be Hydrocodone. U.S. currency was located along with packaging material and digital weigh scales. A male subject, Casey Cooper (30) was found in a spare bedroom and before Cooper exited the room, he attempted to throw a small package of Methamphetamine out of the bedroom window and into the side yard. Cooper was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation.

A second male subject, Ryan Hill was located sleeping on the front room couch; Hill was arrested on three outstanding warrants with bail amounts totaling $75,000.00.

Dake was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession for sale of a controlled substance and child endangerment.

The other two adults and were questioned and released at the scene.

In total, 20 grams of Methamphetamine were seized, along with 36 hydrocodone pills. Agents also seized $1,213.00 in cash as evidence to the charge of possession for sales.

Humboldt County Child Welfare Services were requested to the scene to take custody of Dake’s four minor children. Dake was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and later released on her own recognizance. Casey Cooper was also booked and held on $25,000 bail.

This case remains under investigation by the Humboldt County Drug Task Force.
