Susanville, California – A minimum-security inmate from California Correctional Center (CCC) who walked away from Eel River Conservation Camp (CC #31) on July 16, 2014, has been apprehended.

On July 16, at approximately 7:00 P.M., members of the Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) Investigative Services Unit (ISU) apprehended Inmate Ga Dakota Moss near Redway, California just two miles from the camp. Moss was hiding in some bushes when he was spotted. 

Inmate Moss was wearing civilian clothing and was in possession of marijuana at the time he was apprehended. An investigation has been initiated to determine any other crimes that may have been committed by Inmate Moss while he was at large. 

Inmate Moss is being returned to the California Correctional Center and will be housed in the Administrative Segregation Unit (ASU) pending a complete investigation into his actions.

Redway, California – A minimum-security inmate from California Correctional Center walked away from Eel River Conservation Camp (CC #31) on July 16, 2014.

Inmate Ga Dakota Moss, 19, is a White male, 5’ 11” tall, 175 pounds, with green eyes and blonde/strawberry blonde hair. He was committed to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) on February 28, 2013, from San Bernardino County for Second Degree Burglary. He was scheduled to be released from CDCR custody on December 13, 2014.

Inmate Moss was assigned to an inmate firefighting crew at Eel River Conservation Camp (CC# 31) in Humboldt County, California. The camp houses approximately 120 minimum-custody inmates.

Inmate Moss was last seen at the CC #31 Camp Office awaiting arrival of the camp bus for transport back to CCC at about 8:40 A.M. At about 9:20 A.M., camp staff members were conducting a count and discovered Inmate Moss was missing. An emergency count was conducted and confirmed Moss was missing. The CCC Watch Commander was notified and escape procedures were immediately initiated.

CDCR, Cal-Fire Law Enforcement personnel, along with local law enforcement agencies, and the California Highway Patrol were notified and are assisting in the search for Moss. All responding law enforcement agencies are continuing with the search and apprehension efforts at this time.

Inmate Moss was last seen wearing orange CDCR state-issued clothing. Anyone seeing Moss should contact 9-1-1 or law enforcement authorities immediately.
