A wildfire burned approximately one quarter acre of heavy brush on the Samoa sand dunes this afternoon. According to Cal Fire Captain Tran Beyea, around 1:30 p.m. the small blaze broke out northwest of the New Navy Base/Highway 255 intersection.
Beyea wrote that “the fire was contained and extinguished by crews from the Samoa Peninsula Fire District, Arcata Fire Protection District and CAL FIRE.”
