Fortuna Fire Press Release:

Call received at approximately 1:30 pm on Wednesday June 11th, multiple reports of smoke seen coming from the eaves of the roof of a residence at 1912 Main St. Fortuna Fire crews responded from a vegetation fire at Wolverton Gulch which had just been extinguished.

Fire was found to have extended from the rear porch, up an exterior wall and into the attic. Crews had to open the roof for ventilation and once access to the attic was gained, the fire was brought under control taking approximately 40 minutes. Five engines from Fortuna Fire and one engine from Cal Fire responded to the incident with a total of 22 personnel.

Residents were home at the time of the fire and were notified by a neighbor of the fire at the back of the residence and were able to get out of the residence, no injuries were reported. The origin of the fire was determined to be at the rear porch area of the residence, cause of the fire is under investigation.

A dispatcher confirms that the VFD has rolled to a structure fire right at 1912 Main St., right where Main forks and becomes Fortuna Boulevard and Rohnerville Road. Scanner traffic indicates that tactical teams are staging.
