You may recall, the most trafficked post on LoCO yesterday was the one containing the video of a citizen coming to the aid of a Eureka Police officer while we physically battled a wanted man on F Street. Many “way to go” comments followed.
Unfortunately, it seems the wrong person was receiving your praise. The following press blurb comes to us from the Eureka Police Department:
Regarding yesterdays press release about the citizen assisting the officer, we misidentified the citizen. The citizen who assisted the officer is Mark Steinke of Eureka. Mr. Hening had been a witness to a traffic collision and we apologize for the error. We appreciate anyone willing to assist the police department and their community.
“It truly takes a whole community to police the city,” said Chief Andrew Mills.
