Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

On 06-22-2014, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office deputy was driving a marked patrol car in the 1400 block of Hiller Road, McKinleyville. As the deputy approached a group of four pedestrians walking on the side of the road, one of them threw a lit cigarette at the passing patrol car, striking the car. The deputy immediately stopped the patrol car and contacted the pedestrians. The deputy identified the pedestrian who threw the cigarette as Jacques Kincaid Leroux, 18 years old from McKinleyville.  Leroux told the deputy he threw the cigarette at the patrol car by accident. As the deputy spoke with Leroux, he could tell Leroux was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Leroux for throwing an object at a moving vehicle, throwing a lit object onto a roadway and public intoxication.

The deputy noticed one of the other males in the group appeared to be under the influence of alcoholic beverages too. The deputy spoke with that male, who was identified as Riley Kia Clark Walkner, 18 years old from Arcata. While the deputy was speaking with Walkner, he saw Walkner was concealing a large bottle of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey in his coat. The deputy saw the bottle still had the anti-theft cap from Safeway on it. The deputy ran a check on Walkner, and discovered he was on probation for assault with a deadly weapon, with an abstain from alcohol clause. When the deputy told Walkner he was under arrest, he resisted the deputy’s efforts to arrest him. Walkner was arrested for violation of probation, public intoxication, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property.  The male and female who were walking with Walkner and Leroux were interviewed and released at the scene.

Walkner and Leroux were transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Leroux was released on his own recognizance, Walkner was being held on $25,000.00 bail.
