Wild times in Old Town this morning! Multiple people witnessed a hit and run in the 200 block of E Street as a white pickup collided into three parked vehicles. Sgt. Steve Watson of the Eureka Police Department said the driver of the truck kept on rolling. He left behind the trail of destruction seen in these photographs sent in by Emily Curly.

A witness to the event quickly directed a Eureka police officer in the direction that the fleeing driver had gone. The officer located the vehicle on the 1000 block of C street. He located the alleged driver standing outside his vehicle still carrying the keys to the truck. The man was determined to be Kyle Lee Payton, age 22, of Arcata.  

Payton was determined to have had a couple of passengers in his vehicle. One had minor injuries.

It took several officers and three tow trucks to clear the scene of the original accident.

Payton was booked into the Humboldt County Jail on a Felony DUI as well as a Hit and Run.
