Anacleto Inong of Hoopa took the championship lightweight title belt at Ultimate Reno Combat this Saturday in an amateur bout against Brian “Juice” Jones of  Fernley, NV.

Fight promoter, Nick Kukuruza, said Inong “fought a hometown guy—that is always hard—and he survived the guy’s submission attempts. And [Inong] managed a TKO in the third round.” Normally, Kukuruza said these fights have five rounds of three minutes each but Inong cut the fight short with a series of rapid blows which caused the referee to step in to end the fight.

The ISCF sanctioned event was before a sold out crowd at the Reno Convention Center.

Inong, who trains with the Warrior Society in Willow Creek (see photo below,) said Kukuruza, is “the real deal” who could go professional but is, instead, committed to finishing his education.

Nonetheless, Kukuruza said, Inong likes to fight.

When asked why a man or a woman might do this kind of fighting, Kukuruza explained that people like testing themselves. He said, that fighting is “like going after the biggest wave when you surf.” Then, he added, “Some people like the impact zone. Risk and adrenaline kinda go together.”
