Eureka Police Department (EPD) quickly captured an alleged bank robber this evening with a photo obtained from a surveillance video using an officer’s phone.
At 4:10 this afternoon, the EPD was dispatched to Coast Central Credit Union to the report of a bank robbery. An officer took a photo of the suspect as he appeared in the surveillance video. Another officer saw the photo and recalled seeing a person who looked like the suspect near the dumpster of the Super 8 Motel.
The EPD converged on the area. An officer coming to the incident spotted the suspect on L St.
Sgt. Steve Watson of the EPD said that the money was found in the suspect’s pocket and he was arrested. He was subsequently identified by an employee of Coast Central Credit Union as the person who did the robbery.
Joseph McDaniel (age 59) was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County jail.
