Eureka Police Department press release:

On 11/10/14 at about 12:17 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of J Street for a report of a residential burglary that had just occurred.  The victim reported to dispatchers that she woke up to an unknown male in her room.  The victim said she yelled at the male and he fled out the front door.

While officers were responding they located a suspicious male, later identified as John King (53) of Eureka hiding near the 900 block of H Street.  A cell phone was found on the ground 15 feet from King.   

The victim responded and identified King as the male inside her home.  It was also discovered that the cell phone was stolen from the victim’s home.  King was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and charged with burglary.
