About an hour ago, a motorcyclist was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with reportedly “moderate injuries” after the rider was hit by a car on H Street in Eureka.

According to Eureka police officer Tim Jones, the motorcyclist was traveling on H St. at a high rate of speed when the car pulled out from a stop sign, failing to see the rider. The collision sent the bike careening into a sign post. The driver of the car was unharmed.

H Street was completely shut down for a period at the corner of 16th Street. The two vehicles — the motorcycle and a white sedan — were loaded onto a tow truck at the scene while EPD units processed evidence.
