Of course, the big local news of the weekend was the brush fire which ripped through the Arcata Marsh Sunday, threatening the Interpretive Center and ultimately scorching a three acre swath of mostly riparian habitat between Log Pond and Allen Marsh.

This morning the Arcata Marsh provided a few photos of the newly charred landscape but wanted to get the word out that all the trails as well as the Interpretive Center are all open today.

At this point the cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation by the Arcata Fire Protection District (read their report on Sunday’s events here).

Photos and captions below provided by the Arcata Marsh.
