From the Eureka Police Department

On 09/30/14 at about 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of U Street for the report of felony battery and attempted burglary. The victim told officers that just after midnight she woke up to persistent knocking and ringing of her door bell. She said that she opened the door and was immediately punched in the face by a male. The victim said that she believed the male was trying to get inside her house so she began fighting back to keep him out. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to lock the door and phone police. The male fled in an unknown direction, possibly on foot.

Officers collected evidence at the scene and used a K9 to search for the suspect. The K9 tracked for a few blocks but the trail was ultimately lost in the greenbelt to the rear of St. Joseph Hospital.

The victim had visible injuries to her face but denied the need for immediate medical attention. The suspect is described as a white male, 30’s, 5’10”, thin-medium build, and wearing all dark clothing. The suspect possibly has visible injuries from the struggle. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Eureka Police
Department at (707)441-4060.
