Eloise Dawn Shaha lost her battle with leukemia on March 20, 2015 at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, surrounded by her family.

Eloise was born on June 18, 1951 in Humboldt County. She attended Ferndale and Eureka High, graduating from Eureka High in 1969. While attending Ferndale High, Eloise met Dennis Shaha, whom she fell in love with and remained in love with till her very last day. In 1976, Eloise and Dennis purchased Rosewood Body Shop, originally located on Campton Hill, growing it from this small shop into the business it is today, now located on West 14th Street in Eureka, which they owned until 2013, when they sold it to their son,

Louie. In 2014, after living in Humboldt County for most of their lives, Eloise and Dennis left their home in Eureka to move to Lake Havasu, Ariz. to retire and live closer to their daughter and her family. Eloise was happiest when she was with her family, especially at her lake house at Trinity Lake, where she loved to lay in the pool and swim for hours. Her true best friends have always been her dogs, whom she has loved and spoiled enormously throughout, both hers and their lives.

Eloise was incredibly proud of and loved her grandchildren more than anything else in life. There was never something she would not do for them. She loved attending all of their sporting events as they grew up and was incredibly proud of their accomplishments.

After retiring to Lake Havasu, you could always find Eloise out on the lake, in the pool or at the Java Rush Café, a coffee shop owned by her daughter, where she made very important friends in the last year of her life. Eloise loved to travel the world with her three favorite travel companions, her daughter, Chanda, and her two granddaughters, Maddison and Sophia. Her favorite destination was Hawaii, where she loved the beautiful beaches and sun. In her final years, Eloise also enjoyed traveling with her husband to car shows throughout California and Arizona, where he showed his Chevrolet Biscayne, or as they have called it, the Biscuit.

Overall, Eloise Shaha was a one-of-a-kind woman whom people loved immensely and she will, most certainly, never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dennis Shaha, her son, Louie Shaha (Sabrina), her daughter, Chanda Shaha (Todd Richardson), four granddaughters whom she lived for and couldn’t be prouder of – Jordyn, Grace and Sophia Shaha – along with Maddison Poletski, and of course, her one-and-only and favorite grandson, Brady Shaha. She is also leaving behind her father-in-law, Leonard Shaha, and her two dogs, Rosie and Lucy. The list of people who loved her that she is leaving behind is incredibly long, but those whom she loved were always aware of her feelings toward them. If you were lucky enough to befriend Eloise Shaha, you knew that you had a friend and a constant supporter for life.

Her mother, Geraldine Kimzey, her father and stepmother, Don and Irene Voss, her sister, Judy Palmer, and her mother-in-law, Ernestine Shaha, preceded her in death.

A celebration of life will be held in Eloise’s honor on Sunday, April 26 between 2 and 5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on 445 Herrick Avenue, Eureka. Everyone that knew and loved Eloise is encouraged to attend.

“She lived for those she loved and those she loved remember.”
