UPDATE, 3:05 p.m.: Power’s back on! HSU spokesperson Jarad Petroske says it was a campus-wide outage, and it lasted about 15 minutes. Three elevators stopped working. All elevator-trapped people are now un-trapped. Back to your books, students. (Do they still use books?)

Original post:
At least part of the Humboldt State University campus plunged into darkness this afternoon, reportedly due to a transformer explosion, possibly behind the kinesiology building.
HSU spokesman Jarad Petroske told the Outpost moments ago that he can’t confirm that the whole campus is out, but his own office was powerless, he said.
A student reports that people are currently stuck in the University Center quad elevator. Emergency personnel are responding, according to scanner traffic.
We’ll update with more info as it comes in.
