From the Fortuna Police Department:

On December 18, 2015 at approximately 10:20 pm, an officer with the Fortuna Police Department was on patrol in the area of the 800 block of Main Street when he observed a tan 1996 Honda Accord parked at a gas station. Upon observing the vehicle, he recognized it as a vehicle which had been previously reported stolen to the Rio Dell Police Department. The officer confirmed the stolen status and contacted the subject standing near the vehicle. The subject Marcus Wade Smith, Jr (Age 25 of Fortuna) was determined to have been the driver of the vehicle and subsequently was taken into custody and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.

On December 19, 2015 at approximately 9:00 pm, an officer with the Fortuna Police Department was on patrol in the same area when he observed a blue 2000 Ford Expedition at the same gas station which he recognized as a vehicle which had been previously reported stolen from Safeway in Fortuna. The officer confirmed the stolen status and the driver, Carrie Fuller (age 33 of Fortuna) was taken into custody and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
