At approximately 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the Fortuna Police Department attempted to serve a warrant and do a probation search on Gerald Newmaker, age 62, on Church Street in Fortuna. According to Sgt Jason Kadle of the Fortuna Police Department, the subject attempted to hide and a police K9 discovered him in a doghouse nearby.

Newmaker was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and heroin as well as violation of probation.
