A person was found dead on Highway 101 a little more than an hour ago.

At around 8:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol and other emergency personnel were dispatched to a stretch of northbound Highway 101, between the Ferndale and Singley Hill Road exits, on reports of a man down on the side of the roadway. After they arrived, they reported the case to dispatch as a fatality.

Numerous Lost Coast Outpost readers reported seeing several CHP officers and a body covered by a tarp on the side of the road this morning. They have all left the scene by this time.
