Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

On 02-03-2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling local motels in the Garberville and Redway areas.  The deputy was concentrating his efforts to local motels due to numerous complaints from community members regarding narcotics and other criminal activity at certain motels.

While the deputy was patrolling the parking lot of a motel in the 900 block of Redwood Dr., he came upon a vehicle that matched the description of a recently stolen vehicle reported by the Eureka Police Department.  The deputy confirmed with the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Dispatch Center that the vehicle, a tan 1997 Nissan Pathfinder, was stolen.  The vehicle was unoccupied and at this time there are no suspects.  During a search of the vehicle approximately 1.5 pounds of processed marijuana was found inside.  The vehicle was later towed and the marijuana was seized.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information for the Sheriffs Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriffs Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriffs Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539
