Humboldt Bay Fire press Release:

On 2-7-15 at 0432 hrs Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire at 1210 Myrtle Avenue with 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, 2 chief officers, and 2 support volunteers.

The first arriving engine (8114) found smoke and fire coming from the back of a single story residential structure. The structure was unoccupied. The fire was in the living room area and was quickly controlled within 10 minutes. Crews worked for an additional 45 minutes ensuring that all of the fire spread had been halted.

Fire damage estimate is $20,000. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was mattresses stored over the top of a floor heater    

Myrtle Avenue was temporarily shut down to allow firefighters to deal with the incident.
